More About Newman Drama

What excites you when you go to Newman Drama classes?

Knowing that our students are ready to break boundaries with us! In every class, with the syllabus as a guide for the lesson, we also encourage our learners to explore within the comfortable and safe boundaries to achieve new levels. Teachers do the same too!

What makes you happy during Newman Drama classes?

Seeing our students excel and employ the confident speaking skills and tools we give them in all areas of their lives, even outside the drama class! Say for confident speaking, when I see my students holding an effective conversation with others outside the class. I’m thrilled!

Do you love kids?

Oh yeah! You see, I hated them when I had to teach them to sit down and write (my experience when volunteering in my church kindergarten and tutoring). BUT now, I’m teaching them a course that I love! That I know can benefit them for their overall growth and their future. The teaching experience is just completely different now (as compared to conventional teaching). There is so much to offer through this program! You can teach students to express themselves through speech, expression, body language and so much more. With younger kids, this is the most incredible. Their innocence and understanding of the surrounding allow them to creatively ‘speak’ their mind! ‘As kid sees it’ you know. Often, I learn big lessons through my students!

So with older students, I’m all the more motivated to teach them our skills&tools, because they have lost such ability to express themselves freely due to many upbringing and environmental circumstances and peer influences. (elaborate more on the topic: drama for young people)

What one experience that you loved the most throughout your journey with Newman Drama?

When once a mother, of one of my long term speech&drama students came to express her appreciation in my work that had helped her daughter tremendously in her confidence; she then went on to promote my classes to an established private school and set my path onto one of my biggest clients now! Never did I dream of such accomplishment while giving my best to the said student. One lesson I learnt, in everything you do, give nothing but your best!

What one experience that you disliked the most throughout your journey with Newman Drama?

When a student had to leave us because the school academic requirement is overwhelming him and he reluctantly did.

What are your hopes and dreams for Newman Drama?

That we could cater our valuable skills to more students (through out Malaysia) who need it!

What is your next plan for Newman Drama?

We want to bring our student on an international platform. In August 206, I accompanied a few students on a performing journey to Gold Coast, Australia. I hope to make this possible for all our students!

We’re also more actively embarking on our CSR projects! Giving back to the community is something we can’t excuse ourselves from.
